how does default cd burner amend to disk?

hi folks again, I have been trying to burn small amounts of data to already written cd's but cannot do it for some reason under suse10.0 using the stock tools provided with a default gnome installation. The app is buggy and often doesn't display certain options properly (like burn speed) but more importantly if I try to amend a disk it always comes back as being full already when it isn't at all. This worries me not only because I cannot do my amendments but also because I need compatability between systems used to read from the disks(and amend)- The other system is a dual boot windows/suse9.2 box (yeah, 9.2!) windows makes amenments fine and I'm pretty sure also under suse9.2 (not certain tho).

Is this a default setting that can be changed or should I just be looking for other burn apps to install as my fix?

I have a feeling that the buggy behavior isn't the app itself but gtk related cause I get other errors related to gtk linked apps often.

thanks for any help in advance, jd

If you are using cdrecord, or some GUI app that calls cdrecord to write the cd, you have to specify the -multi option to make a multi-session cd, except for some Sony drives, which require a different option.

Read more in 'man cdrecord'.

still dunno about the buggy stuff but I can live with it untill I finish downloading debian. cheers, jd
