encoding error with k3b while trying to burn data dvd

running suse 10.0 ...now when I try to burn a data dvd with k3b I get errors that it encountered an unknown file encodement ... then it says a system update could have changed the local charset ... is there a way to set the charset back to what it should be ?? If so what should I set it to ?? and how ??

Thanks in advance ...

Erick

What version of k3b do you have? I remember there was a bug in older versions of k3b a few months ago about accented characters in filenames. I encountered this problem.

If that's not it, post the exact error and your keyboard / language settings. Use the k3b 'simulate' option if you don't want to make another coaster.

Sorry took so long to reply but this is on my wife's laptop so I don't see it every day. The version of k3b is 0.12.15 and this is the error:

Encountered an incorrectly encoded filename kaffer.png with a ~ over the a
may be caused by a system update which changed the local charecter set
you may use convmv to fix file encoding

^^^ this I tried but couldn't get anywhere with convmv ....

any suggestions??
