ATI drivers & SuSe 9.2

Since I didn't find this issue solved anywhere on the internet nor on these forums, I'm posting it here.

How on earth are you supposed to get these crappy ATI-drivers installed on SuSe 9.2 Professional?? I assume Xorg is causing lots of the installation trouble.

I did manage to install them on SuSe 9.1 with some info from the internet. But I get absolutely no success with 9.2.

BTW, nVidia's drivers installed with one click from YasT. Way to go, nVidia!

Here is a link to update your xorg drivers if you need to or want to try to: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/X/Xorg/

You might want to check this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...threadid=240256

This thread is also helpful:

It seems that the xfree86 4.4 drivers work with xorg version 4.4. Just make sure you have the version that matches up with your version of xorg.

Hope this helps.

Hi, both of your thread links are broken, and there is no such thing as xorg 4.4..it's either 6.7 or 6.8 for SuSE. Also, do you actually have ATI 3D working on SuSE 9.2? Last I checked at rage3d (yesterday) it was not possible with xorg 6.8.
