Arrow unable to partition


Hi!
I've just got Slackware and how now experience with linux or any other UNIX - system...
I hav read alot about how to install it and that kind of stuff but when i type fdisk /dev/hda it just sayes "unable to open dev/hda"... i dont know what to do...
I have a Western Digital Caviar 160GB IDE ATA/100 8MB cache 7200RPM hardisk

You might try using tom's root boot floppy for this, find it here:
http://www.toms.net/rb/
and remember to copy it from download file to floppy using dd command if in linux, Rawwrite if from windows.

I've tryed that but i dont understad anything of that...I'm using WinXp at the moment...

See chapter 3 of the slackware book for instruction on how to use fdisk.

Your disk is probably not primary master (/dev/hda). Try fdisk /dev/hdb, fdisk /dev/hdc or fdisk /dev/hdd.
(cfdisk is also an option instead of fdisk, more "userfriendly" interface).
