Slackware newbie - problems with first-time install
Hi everyone.
I've just installed SW under VMware (on Win7). On booting SW, it goes straight to network boot. I've flagged the root partition as bootable in cfdisk. The only vaguely non-standard thing that I've done is not to install lilo since this seems to be allowed. The installation appeared to go OK. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mick.
Are you saying that you can get through the regular install, but it tries to do a net install after you reboot?

No - Following the (apparently successful) install, I boot the image but it doesn't seem to see the boot volume and so drops through to network boot which fails (since it hasn't been configured.)
I've just found this article on Installing SW under VMware and it seems like it needs lilo to work. I'll try installing lilo and let you know the result.
Lilo is the standard bootloader of Slackware. Without it it will not boot, unless you use a different bootloader. Therefore you are able to not install Lilo, but since Slackware seems to be the only OS in that VM Lilo is essential for booting.
