zipslack halted while started 1st time

I wanted to use my old 486 DX2 66 for ZipSlack.
I installed FreeDOS to the hard disk.
I unzipped zipslack.zip into root and it mad the directory C:\LINUX as supposed.
Then I started to setup, i.e. rebooted the system.
Changed dir and typed LINUX in.
It even worked abotu 15 secodns, then the following message appeared on the screen:

uncompressing linux...
ran out of input data
-- system halted

I do not know what to do.

Earlier I have tried to install DSL, but my PC does not recognize the CD without loaded driver. As there was no floppy or HD installation, it failed.

Am I damned?

More info perhaps:

I have 1,28 GB hard disk
and 50 MB RAM

Is it something to do with (e.g.) FAT16 FAT32 conflict?
Anything else?
