Question no signal when starting xorg for the 1st time (but the second time works fine)

Hi all

I have a weird problem with my xorg server. When I do startx, xorg seems to start normally (no error messages), then the screen goes blank and my monitor complains of getting "no signal". If I then kill the server (ctrl-alt-bkspc) and do startx again, everything works fine. This happens to me every time I try to start X for the first time after bootup. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks for your help
