Or you could download the sources from WineHQ and compile it yourself. That should work just fine. I used to run Crossover Linux on Slack and I installed it from source.
Also, keep in mind that MANY programs that work on wine need the 32-bit version of linux, so if you have a default 64bit SW13 installed, you will have to go multi-lib.
Details on this are also on Eric's site, and discussed ad infinitum on this forum.
You can actually acquire the source to a somewhat old version of CrossOver right on the CodeWeaver site. That said, be nice, get the demo, and buy it if you really want it.
Exactly....Eric's wine package performs admirably for my meager gaming needs...your mileage may vary.
99% of what I use wine for is to run World of Warcraft, and with my system, I get a 20-30% FPS boost running in wine over running in Vista Ultimate 64bit.
I've tried WINE a few times. I just keep getting a message about Gecko being required followed by an error pop up saying something about a "com error" and then the system hangs.
In previous versions of Slackware I got mIRC to work somewhat but the list boxes don't seem to refresh correctly.
So far I haven't found out how to install applications like Eudora E-Mail or Quicken. Those are the ones I really want to run on Linux but I've had no luck so far.
It amazes me that people get World Of Warcraft to run. What's involved in setting all that up? Do you have to install fonts, DLLs, make special WINE settings? Is it all manual steps or does the installer for World Of Warcraft do most of it?
I think some of the problem with Quicken is that it uses Internet Explorer to do some of the display. Eudora seems to be mostly OK except for the fonts and toolbar.

The Wine devs specifically targeted getting WoW to run nicely.. and Blizzard helped to make it happen.
