Video Memory in XF86Config

I just got a new 256 mb video card. I am replacing a 64 mb card. Previously in XF86Config, my vid memory was set to 4096. What should I set this to to reflect the 256 megs? By the way, I am having no problems with the new nvidia drivers. Got q3, ut 2003 , and neverwinter nights all running. If only I could get madden 2003 running...windows would be gone.

Do they even sell 256MB cards now? Well, if you have an exact driver for your card, you may not even have to set it.

But if you want to be sure, its 1024*256 , so its 262,144 .

I hate math.

Thanks! For some reason I was multiplying it by 64.......who knows? Anyway, the card is a GEForce fx 5600 256mb. Pro-link is the brand, so far I am really happy with it. I got it for around $160.00.

Have you gotten the official Nvidia drivers? Get them and you shouldn't even need to include the memory size.

I've never had to enter a memory size, in fact the default config when you select the nvidia drivers has the ram commented out I believe.
