Thumbs down Touchpad not working

This is the scenario:

Slackware 10.2, a cheap machine with an usb keyboard which has an integrated touchpad instead of a decent mouse. The thing doesn't want to work, the mouse pointer only moves on the Y axis, i've tried several mouse configuration options under xorg.conf, installed synaptics withouth luck so far...

a regular usb mouse works fine, though

here's the xorg.conf relevant output:

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "X.org Configured"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "TouchPad" "AlwaysCore"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"

Any advice is highly appreciated

I found this change in xorg.conf googling around

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "X"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "Y"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Resolution" "1200"
Option "DragLockButtons" "3"

I applied it, and the touchpad works... kinda, the axis are inverted: if i slide a finger side by side, the mouse pointer goes upwards-downwards and viceversa i thought this new issue would be very simple to resolve, but i haven't been able to figure it out..

Any ideas??

It seems you've too many ZAxisMapping options there, and I think they aren't necessary with Synaptic driver. Also, from what i've read, it's necessary to have Protocol "auto-dev".
Take a look here: http://web.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/xorg.conf (Leave /dev/input/mice untouched since that seems to be the device you need)
This page may also help you: http://web.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/
