TouchPad not working any more

Hi,
I have SuSE 8.2 Loaded on Dell Inspirion 1100 & have been using it for couple of years without any problem. Couple of weeks back I connected an USB mouse & it worked flawlessly.But after that even if I unplug the USB mouse, the touchpad doesn't work and am not able to get it to work. Has any one come across similar issue & would be able to help me resolve this. I am desperate as it is irritating me to carry a mouse around..

You'll have to verify which device node is the touchpad.

cat /dev/input/mouse0
then run your finger across the touchpad. If nothing happens, ctrl+C

cat /dev/input/mouse1
then run your finger across the touchpad. If nothing happens, ctrl+C

continue until you find the correct one. Then add it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf in the input device section.
