Unhappy Touchpad stopped working

I have a Toshiba P10-792 laptop with Debian Testing installed , the touchpad worked fine until 2.6.8 kernel it was recognized as :

Code:
 cat /proc/bus/input/devices
    I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0001 Version=0000
    N: Name="PS/2 Generic Mouse"
    P: Phys=isa0060/serio4/input0
    H: Handlers=mouse0 event0 ts0
    B: EV=7
    B: KEY=70000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    B: REL=3
It worked with PS2 driver and the synaptic driver with XFree 4.3.
With 2.6.9 (2.6.9,2.6.9-rc1,2.6.9-rc2) and beyond the touchpad is not recognized at all !
It does not appear in /proc/bus/input/devices .
I searched in google for the same problem , and for a similar problem it was suggested to pass psmouse.proto=imps as parameter , but it did not worked for me
If someone knows anythink about the problem , please post it .
Thank you

Does it look something like this:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
