Question time problem

I installed Slackware 11 on a Toshiba Tecra S1
Everything works fine , but I have a problem I don't seem to find a solution for.
As root I get the real time (i.e. 19:40) an as user I get the real time -1 hour (i.e. 18:40).
Anybody an idea why this is and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Is this in KDE? In KDE, every user can set his own timezone. Right-click on the clock, there's a "show timezone" option that should be set to "local timezone".

time problem

Hi,

I'm using KDE but it's not a specific KDE problem.
the settings in KDE are the correct ones, as far as I know.
I've tried another window manager, which gave the same result in an xterm.

greetings,

eddyvp

Hi,

Found it myself: just make /etc/localtime readable for users.

Thanks for posting the solution.
By default, /etc/localtime has indeed mode 644 and root:root, so you must have modified it.

Hi,
I haven't modified it, maybe a bug in the slackware cd's which I bought.
