System hangs on hotplug boot up HELP!!! PLZ!!
Greetings,
I recently converted a friend of mine from windows to Slack 10.1, all was going well then she said the computer turned itself off out of no where and now won't boot and hangs on the hotplug start up.
This is the second time this has happend to her, I installed with all default settings, the only thing I changed was making the computer start in runlevel 4 (with kdm) instead of 3.
The first time it happened I reinstalled slack and the system worked for about 2 weeks before it happened again. The first time it happened I thought it was an apm or parrallel port issue, so I made sure not to turn either on this time.
My friend is a total noob and only uses the computer to IM and browse webpages but I want to keep her faith in linux and fix this problem, does anyone know how? I will be more than happy to provide logs if you tell me which ones and where to find them.
I'm completely puzzled by this because my own computer has an almost identical config and this has never happend to me, also my friend knows nothing about root access or any of the config files of a system so she couldn't have screwed it up herself.
Thank you for any help,
-- Jason
