Strange background display bug in KDE

Hi,

I'm using Slackware64 with the KDE desktop. Sometimes, when I start KDE, I have a strange display bug that affects the background. Not a serious bug, only annoying. Here's a screenshot to get the idea:

Usually, it's sufficient to logout and log back in to restore things to normal.

Anyone experiencing the same thing? Any workarounds known?

It's fixed in KDE 4.6. A work around is to disable the composite extension, but you lose all the desktop effects.

Or rather than disabling effects (if you want to keep them enabled) you can change the Compositing type from OpenGL to XRender as outlined in this thread
