I was at first having the "sounds build up while watching a movie and then unleash themselves on you when you are done" problem. This is why i switched to aRts sound output. However using aRts is causing a nasty sound syncro problem when I watch movies. How can I go about configuring mplayer or aRts (or whatever i have to configure) to properly sync up my sound again?

p.s. i have found some things about tweaking mplayer with -mc and -autosync but with limited luck. autosync doesnt do much at all and -mc is combersome to have to do every time i want to play a video...

Surely I'm not the only one here haveing problems with SOUND in LINUX?!?! Looking into the documentation for mplayer, I did run across something saying that the problem actually stems from an impoper implementation of the sound drivers. Surely there is a workaroud for this. How many people are using AC97 on linux. LOTS! Lets hear your thoughts on the sound situation in general.
