Question sound problem, help please!

Happy New Year to everyone!!

How can I solve this problem? :

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

Help me please.

Thanks a lot!

Did you run alsaconf (as root) to set up your sound system ?

Then run:

alsamixer

to increase volume level for Master and PCM at least

and then to save the modifications, type in

alsactl store

Also make sure you got the correct drivers either compiled into the kernel or as modules.

It also could be a permissions problem. Be sure that you have RW_ privs on both /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer. If not,
Code:
chmod 666 /dev/dsp
chmod 666 /dev/mixer
You need to be root to run the above

Hey guys!!

You don't know HOW GREAT YOU AREEEEE!!

It works with all your suggestions, I only had to run 'artsd' because is the one who serves the sound in KDE.

Thank you!!
