The IP of the service provider, the ping comes back with a response.

if you can ping your provider, i think your setup is ok.
but maybe you're not logged in at that provider, so you can't get any further connection ?
it's rather strange thet you can ping only them and no other outside ip.

also, did you already check your /etc/resolv.conf file ?
that should contain at least one ip of a dns server.

Actaully, I don't have any of the DNS IP's listed...is that an issue?

i think we have a winner here.

Yes, you need the IP address of at least one DNS server here. If dhcpcd isn't automatically filling that information in for you, you need to hand-edit that file with the lines:
Code:
nameserver 205.171.2.65
note, that's the first DNS server for Qwest here in Denver, Colorado

Give that a try.

Okay, I'll do that, thanks. Strange, isn't DHCP suppose to be doing that though?

Yes it will do that but if you specify in adsl-setup or netconfig to do that. If you used adsl-setup/adsl-start read the instructions when it asks you for a DNS server IP, you should type: server

Some ISP's (especially ones that use PPPoE) don't dole out DNS server names. Although if you don't have to do something like this under Windows (or other Linux) I don't know why you have to do it now.

This does look like the problem, though. I bet a dollar it's fixed once you try this sollution.

Yeah, I had to add "server" when it asked for DNS...silly me. I'm really impressed with Slackware so far. Now I know what they mean when they say "simplicity".

As for dropline, after you upgrade I run the dropline updater to make sure that i reinstall any thing I might have "upgraded". The only thing that I dont like about DLG is that they redid X11 which for some reason messes up ET and UT2k4 Other that that slackware -current with dropline is very nice and stable(for me at least) despite what some say. If any one knows why the openGL games dont run under DLG I would like to know but it's not on top of my list.
You have to reinstall your videocard drivers after the X11 server gets upgraded. I play OpenGL games on Dropline very often. If you can't get it to work after resintalling the drivers, stop on by the Dropline forums and we'll see if we can help you fix it.

There are a few reasons why we update the X11 packages:
