There's ALWAYS hope :}

Heh. I thought the site had been defaced. The new logo
is ugly as.

The new logo may be distinct, but to me (as a long time
slacker) doesn't represent Slackware (and it's very hard
to read). And it only succeeded to convey that it's meant
to be about slackware after the third or fourth attempt
to decipher it. Sjach-something?

/me shudders ... "Who dreamt that ugliness up?"

Cheers,
Tink

Yes.. i read it and then you conveniently locked it so because all replies were not in your favor.

You are being completely ignorant to a number of members opinions... and it is very clear that you are taking it personally.

In response to having 2 threads about the same thing.. there are hundreds of threads about 'why is slack the best' 'convince me to switch' 'what is so great about slack' It is the same thing 100's of times and no locks. You clearly didn't like the fact that someone questioned your 'authority' which is sad.

Sorry all.. Since I posted here I am sure it will be locked.

But to stay on topic... I agree with Tinkster, it almost looked like a joke when I first noticed the logo change.

slackb0t, please take a deep breath and chill out. If you would have discussed things with XavierP via email after the first incident (instead of going off on your own), perhaps things would have turned out different for you. Seriously, stuff like what you just posted is clearly better suited for direct contact via email instead of the forums. BTW, if you wish to discuss this post of mine, please email me instead of once again using this thread for discussing policy issues.

So why not take your own advise... and pm that response to me instead of posting it here? Because it has nothing to do with the thread until the end.. just like mine. ???

Because unlike you, I have a responsibility to help moderate. That said, XavierP has been extremely patient in dealing with you, and you should be thankful for that. Once again (and for the last time): If you wish to discuss things via email with me or any other member of the Mod Team you are more than welcome to do so. Any further attempts of yours to take this thread off-topic by using it to discuss moderation issues after having been asked at least twice not to do so will be dealt with accordingly. This is an official public warning.

Actually this OT thread discussions fits with the new logo - when I saw it first I thought it reads 'slackwars'.

I didn't read the whole thread, but some of you probably already know that Dan Brown's book, Angels and Demons (prequel to The DaVinci Code), makes a big deal of letter designs intended to be read either right side up or upside down. Bet you all didn't realize that Isaac Newton, et al, were mystical Slackers.

Of course we did. But now you have discovered our secret, you cannot be allowed to live.

Back in my day, words started at the beginning and finished at the end, and we liked it that way. Oh, sure, there was always the oddball that would try to tell you that 53045 was really shoes if you looked at it upside down, but we had ways of dealing with those guys.

The problem with the new logo is that the next thing you know, people will be doing entire books like this. You'll be able to start reading from either the front or the back, but there won't be an ending... you'll always finish up back at the beginning. I just think it's a road we don't want to travel down.

I think that having a 'branded' lilo splash-screen is even more significant than having a new logo.

Wow, I must have been on vacation when they changed it. Damn, it really kinda sucks, doesn't it I mean, yeah, it's a neat trick, but unfortunately it just doesn't look good, the font sucks.

I think you'll find that the best version is 55378008

There are books like this. They tend to sit on the shelf to show how intelligent and hip the owner is. They usually remain unread.
