slackware 10.1 freeze

I just installed slackware 10.1 beside debian sarge...............it works perfect...........however.............slackware freezes every once in a while for few seconds, and then resumes normal operation.

does anyone have the same problem or knows why this happens?

i kept my eye on ram usage using [top]........i have plenty of free ram

i noticed that it freezes when i highlight a text with mouse, but does not freeze when i highlight a text using [shift]+[arrow]

also, mouse does not freeze when i scroll down or up in konqueror

Have you rebuilt the kernel or is it missing the drivers for your hd

Code:
hdparm /dev/hda
Will show if your using dma, assuming /dev/hda is the hd your using.

maybe you could check the logs... dmesg, /var/log/message ....

#tail -f /var/log/messages

and make the action you say usualy freezes up and see if you get any output...

I used to have that error on KDE, I just ran the configuration wizard again and selected "slow processor" to have less graphical effects...works fine now....

See this thread. This has to do with the permissions for /dev/sg0.
