i would like to know how i can setup my usb mouse(A4Tech usb mouse) i tried pluging-in to my usb port then i rebooted, during the reboot the usb mouse was detected but when i log-in everything froze so i got to reset the computer. but when i use my ps/2 mouse everything went fine no freezing of the system or what so ever.

pls tell me how i can setup the usb mouse in slackware-9.1?

You could try "mouseconfig". Before starting X, login as root and type mouseconfig. Then choose the usb-mouse option.
Hope that helps,
