Problems with slackware 9.1 shut down


ok my prob is i been looking around slack and i dont seem to find shut down button or halt or something that will shut down and my question what do i need to do to shut down o halt ..........thanks

go into your terminal and use: shutdown -h

To clarify your question: are you trying to get the machine to power off after you shutdown and it isn't, or are you looking for the "shutdown machine" option in a dialog when you log off? If it is the latter, you can't, at least not as a normal user. Well, you CAN, but it involves this tweak:

If you don't wish do to this, as a normal user, you will have to log off and them using GDM, if you are using Gnome, shut the machine down.

If it is the former, then it sounds like an APM (Advanced Power Management) issue that you need to enable in order to get the machine to power off.
