.pcf font rendering in GTK2

Hi all,

I've installed some custom programming fonts, namely Speedy.pcf. Its a .pcf, so I just coped it into /usr/share/fonts/misc, and ran mkfontscale, mkfontdir.

I can use the font fine in 'xfontsel' and 'urxvt', but when GTK2 tries to render this font, it screws it up.. its not even the same font, its just using some default font.

Anyone have any experience with this? I need Speedy in gvim bad ;P

you could try using fontforge to change the format into a true type font. I believe it can convert .pcf font files.

Did look into this a little, but they're different formats. Bitmap vs. Outline (TTF). Its easy to go from Outline -> Bitmap, but not so for Bitmap -> Outline, very lossy unless you have the high-res original bitmaps.

In any case, is it just my setup? Or have others seen this problem as well?
