Question Not recognizing my wireless connection - can't connect to internet

The KDE desktop does not seem to recognize my wireless card - it doesn't show any connections. But, I don't necessarily think this is a Slackware issue. I have the Slax Linux distribution on a USB thumb drive. It uses the KDE desktop too, and it doesn't find my wireless connection, either. So, either there's a conflict with KDE recognizing my wireless card, or I'm not doing something correctly.

Here's the output of /sbin/lspci:

You should just need the broadcom-sta package that contains the proprietary kernel driver for your device. There's a slackbuild for it.

http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.../broadcom-sta/

Better yet, if you have sbopkg, you can simply install it through there. If not, just download all those files to a directory and then, as root, run broadcom-sta.SlackBuild and install the resulting package. There is also a recommendation to block some other broadcom modules to prevent issues. See the README for more info (the README is displayed directly on the slackbuild page for your convenience).

EDIT: There's also more info on the topic on the slack wiki.

This is meant to be in addition to bassmadrigal's post, not to supercede it. Alien BOB's wiki, http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...eless_networks, on setting up networking and wireless was a saving grace for me when I set up a wireless connection for the first time.
