Modem problems

Alright... now I have a dialup modem. I know that it works with linux (I used it in slack9, mandrake, fedora, dsl, etc...) I can get it to dial and conect and such.. but when it's connected (using my phoneline and everything) I can't do anything on the web. I know I told it the right DNS server, because it's the same one that i've used for all the other distro's. anyone have any suggestions??? any help is appreciated.

another thing i'd be kinda curious about, is there anything easier to set up your modem with than pppsetup..? I really liked the one for dsl.. it was incredibly simple... fast... and worked first try. could I get something like that for slack 10???

meinzorn; ? on previuos distros how did u connect to net? u let distros auto setup or u manually setup.? do not understand what problem is unless configuration is incomplete. take a close look at config; it maybe some thing simple that is overlooked. redo it.

well, as lame as it is.. I got frustrated and formatted my hd again.. I installed KDE this time though and used kppp to set it up and it works fine.. I'll just stick with this for now while I figure things out for myself.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Firewall problem?
Maybe DNS lookup blocked?
