Laptop Keyboard not responding in Slack 12

Ok guys, this is really freaking me out...

I have a Sager Laptop dual booting Slack 12 and Vista. I got everything running, no problems whatsoever, and then this morning I boot into slack and the keyboard doesn't respond. As in I type my login name and nothing shows up on the screen (mouse works fine). I tried Vista and the keyboard works there so it can't be a lose connection or something. I tried booting into my old slackware kernel and also I tried a Ubuntu live disk (7.10), both of which has no effect on the keyboard problem. What could be happening here?

Please, anyone with any ideas :-(

EDIT: Also, pressing caps lock/num lock/whatever does show up any lights.

Boot from a live cd, mount the drive on a temporary directory and analyse the kernel logs (/var/log/kernel/*). Grep for 'failed' or 'error'.

As stated above, I tried using a Ubuntu Live CD, and the keyboard still didn't work. So I couldn't type anything! I'll see if there is a mouse-based way to do what you want to do above. I have set it up so that I can view my linux files from Vista, but I can't find the directory /var/log/kernel, maybe because it's created at startup. But I'll see if I can figure out how to look in there.

Odd, hope it's not something like a boot-sector virus. Depending on the 'virulence' of such a virus it could just mess with you, kind of like what you experienced, or worse ...

Well, I was just suggesting a possibility, I'm not saying it's actually there or anything. Most probably, it's nothing at all, just a random quirk. Sorry if I scared you.
