Lose keyboard in slack 9.1 laptop install

I just got the courage to install slack 9.1 in a dual boot setup with XP today. Unfortunately, I have a problem right after I press enter at the first CDROM boot screen. I get to the question asking about my keyboard mapping. Of course I want to simply press enter but my keyboard input is gone! I tried hooking up a PS/2 keyboard, same problem. Anyone got advice.

My laptop is an HP ze4430us if that helps(xp2400+ mobile).

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

I just disabled legacy USB in my BIOS after reading another post related to install problems (forgot which post, sorry). Install is working fine now , however I have yet to evaluate the end install result.

I will post some my impressions of post install once I get to that point. I'm very new to linux, but I thought I would put in my opinions anyway.

Thanks to everyone at Linuxquestions.org, I couldn't get anywhere in linux without this forum!

Ryan
