How Do I apply seamonkey -1.1.18-i486-1_slack12.2.tgz


I ftp the download seamonkey -1.1.18-i486-1_slack12.2.tgz to my desktop and don't know how to apply this patch to slackware12.2 seamonkey1.1.13. If this is too basic a ques. please refer me to a slackware specific howto this is my first attempt to patch or update program. Thanks

upgradepkg seamonkey-blah-blah.blah

Just like you would deal with any other package.

sahko, your response assumes i have upgraded other pkges and i have not. If you don't want to share your expertise why bother responding to the post? If you think i should use another distro or forum just say so.

give that command in a root shell (substitute blah blah stuff with the name of your package).

my apology and thanks to sahko, I misunderstoood. thankyou poncez for the link. i did the:

#upgradepkg seamonkey-1.1.13-i486-1%seamonkey-1.1.18-i486-1_slack12.2.tgz
It worked without a problem.

Seamonkey 2 would be another option.

You could download it from their site here.

Then extract it anywhere and just run it right from the folder it makes.
