FVWM and colorsets.

I just did a fresh install of Slackware 13. I set FVWM as the default WM. Configuration was going good until I got to the colorsets. I define the color as follows:

Code:
Colorset 1 fg #ffffff, bg #000000
I call the colorset as a style option for windows as follows:

Code:
Style * Colorset 1
I save the config file and restart FVWM and nothing changed. I have tried several variations but nothing changes the default colorset. Any suggestions.

BTW the version installed with Slackware 13 is 2.4.20

I haven't used FVWM in a long time. I dug around and found this old tutorial. Your commands are not what is shown on the tutorial for the style line. I hope this helps.

I started the tutorial part way through above. This is the beginning.

Another good site I had bookmarked.

Thanks for the links. I had tried to use:

Code:
Style "*" Colorset 1
This made no change.

I installed FVWM on gentoo. It was version 2.5.? and I had no problems with colorsets. Slackware 13 has FVWM 2.4.20 and I can't figure out why I can't get it to display the different defined colorsets.

I couldn't get defined colorsets to work but I got different colors by defining styles as follows.

Code:
Style * ForeColor #ffffff, BackColor #000000
Style * HilightFore $ff0000, HilightBack #000000
That works but I still can't figure out why colorsets don't work.

I figured it out. Almost every tutorial is for version 2.5. I found out that colorsets in version 2.4 are built into FVWM as a module as FvwmTheme. You run the module at start up as follows:

Code:
DestroyFunc StartFunction
AddToFunc StartFunction
+ I Module FvwmTheme
You then define the colorset as follows:

Code:
DestroyModuleConfig FvwmTheme: *
*FvwmTheme: Colorset 1 fg #ffffff, bg #000000
You can then apply the color set as follows:

Code:
Style * Colorset 1
Hopefully this helps anyone else with the same problem.

Thank you for this. I have always enjoyed fvwm...fun to play with and configure. I might see about getting 2.5.

[edit] from the FVWM site I see that 2.4.20 is the stable version. 2.5.x is not in Slackware, I figure, as it is still labeled unstable. I may go get it and try it anway.
