Foreign languages for ispell

I recently created French hash tables for ispell from affix files for a Windows version of ispell and dictionaries from hunspell. I could create them for a number of languages.

Would foreign language capabilities for ispell interest you Slackers?

You question leads to another one: what does ispell bring that aspell doesn't (I ask because aspell is shipped in Slackware and I use it for English and French)?

I have a question for you: ispell default installation on Ubuntu says that "backlight" is an incorrect word and it suggests "back-light" or "back light" but many dictionaries say that "backlight" is correct. Can you check it on aspell?

I don't know. I asked. I've been using Linux since 1997. I think ispell was the only choice then; I've used it for years, in the course of which I've added a lot of words to the personal dictionary: can aspell import them?

Others had recommended hunspell, which did worse than ispell on a test bad-French. I just tried aspell on it and it did the job perfectly; I'll switch to aspell, at least for French.

But Slackware still distributes ispell; I can create a package of foreign language support files for ispell if people want them. That's why I asked.
