Angry Pre-Install problems

When I insert the Slack 10 cd it runs fine until about ten seconds into it when you can choose to keep the US keyboard or "press 1" to change it, it wont let me hit any buttons its like it freezes up or something and I tried to restart and do it again but it keep doing it. I've also used the same disk to install slackware on another computer before this one.

I've even tried loading different kernals at startup but still nothing happens when it asks me to press 1 or hit enter.

I'm running an HP laptop about 2 years old.

PLZ HELP cuz this is really pissing me off
