I have a laptop, I am using 96x96 DPI and my fonts are easily readable on the laptop screen which has a 1366x768 resolution.

The second monitor has 1920x1440 resolution and the text is really small. The second monitor runs a different X session, on the same user, by executing 'DISPLAY=":01.1" openbox&' in my autostart file

I have tried using xrandr to change the DPI on the second display but it doesn't seem to be working, and I haven't been able to find any other info on how to set it up.

This is on an nvidia card, and I used nvidia-settings to configure the second monitor. I'm not using xinerama, if that makes a difference.

Any other tips on how to get the second monitor to display larger fonts, while keeping the primary the same, would be appreciated.

If you have two seperate webbrowsers you can change fontsize in firefox with ctrl+mousewheel
Modifing sytles and themes should be done seperatles, maybe you dont need just two x sessions but something else like 2 os or 2 desktops.

Can you start the second X session for the second monitor with "startx -- -dpi 140"? Change 140 to fit accordingly to what you want the DPI to be...

yooy: it isn't just the web browser though. I run multiple applications on the other monitor, and i figured raising the DPI on that X instance would be the best way of making all fonts there larger


dimm0k, the second X starts from my xorg, inside which i have now managed to change the DPI for the second monitor, however that is only affecting the font size of title bars and menus


For example, urxvt is incredibly tiny while the title bar is rather large if i set the DPI at a higher number
