From a very long time I have been trying to find a way to do multiple remote logins to the linux desktop. One way to do that could be to configure multiple vnc sessions through the xvnc config. But that would basically start multiple sessions in the background and the remote users would require to know the ip of the session.
What I am basically looking for is, something similar like ssh but for gui. does that makes sense? I am sure there must be some software or something available already which will allow this. Please do let me know

Ssh is able to tunnel and forward the X-windows protocol. Configured properly, you can call GUI-programs inside a ssh terminal session and get them started in a window of you local window manager while the program is executed on the machine, where you're logged in with ssh.

Or do you need a whole X-session executed remotely? All X-session managers, namely Xdm, gdm and kdm can do that. FreeNX is a server and client suite, that may do it as well, but is said to use far less network bandwidth per session than VNC.

Thanx hasienda. I am right now having a look at freenx. actually the client app could be a linux desktop or a windows desktop. So any idea on that?
