Right, I downloaded the 2.4.20 sources in .tar.bz2 format, copied them from my home to /usr/src , and then tried to extract em. Bunzip2 kindly tells me that the archive is corrupted:
Code:
sh-2.05b# bunzip2 linux-2.4.20.tar.bz2
bunzip2: Data integrity error when decompressing.
Input file = linux-2.4.20.tar.bz2, output file = linux-2.4.20.tar
It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.
You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.
bunzip2: Deleting output file linux-2.4.20.tar, if it exists.
No matter what archive I download from kernel.org , they are all corrupted. The installl is a clean slack 9.0 full install.
So far so good The file is not corrupted and I un tar-gzipped it in /usr/src.
Now, the guide tells me to edit /usr/src/linux/makefile. But in my filetree there are a few more levels:
/usr/src/linux-2.4.20/fs
/bfs
/efs
/fat
/hfs
/jbd
Well i think these are filesystems. They all contain that makefile file. Again, I have the ReiserFS, and I don't see RFS in that list Wich one must I pick?
