I need to run DC++ because my favourite hubb requires me to have that, or oDC, program. I thought i might be able to run the program with WINE.
So i installed the program with the installer, which worked fine, and tried to run the program. It started!!! I was overwhelmed! But when i wanted to edit the settings i was in for an bad surprice. The settings window was corrupted. I could only change the settings in the first window. The menu on the side was gone!
Now my questions are: is there anyway to fix the settings window. Or could i edit the settings in an other file? like an settings.whatever? i have not found anyone yet. Is it hidden in another folder perhaps?
the above is the only thing i have seen that some people needed to get DC++ working, in which that above gets added the the wine config file if you didn't know ...
secondly, i don't think any of the options save when you change them in DC++ (if/when you do in fact get it working) so your basically fighting a losing battle ...
and thirdly ... there is close to 5,000 hubs and your putting yourself through all this when there is probably more than a couple thousand that are probably better than your favorite, and you could just say the hell with this and get a linux native client??
I agree DC is the best metal source on the net. I use it daily to get full metal albums. However, I just use the native directconnect4linux. It's not as good as DC++, but it gets the job done.
The reason i need DC++ is because the server im usually in is within my DMZ range. This means that i cannot bust my limit while downloading and the speed is great. If i would change server then i wouldn't be able to download as much and it wouldn't be as reliable.
I tried that program. It seams fine. The problem is that the DMZ hub im talking about doesn't seem to accept that DCclient... The same way it doesn't accept the cracked versions of DC++ or the NMDC version...
I could connect but after a very short while i was disconnected.
