Configuring kpackage

I'm at a complete loss on how to configure kpackage. I've downloaded and installed openssl using kpackage via a mirrored ftp site which was fairly staightforward.

However, I believe I need to compare what packages I have installed on my machine with those on the mirrored ftp site.

I've got to th settings panel in kpackage which gives a number of tabs I1, P2, P3, P4, P5, D6 and D7. From what documentation I've found the relevant tabs are I1 and P2 thru P5. It would appear that I'm supposed to put in some of the various text boxes either a path to where the packages are on my machine or to where the packages are on the mirrored ftp site.

I've tried to second guess what I should put in but to no avail I get various error messages back.

An example of how the configuration should be would be very helpful.

Thanks in anticipation.

I think kpackage doesn't work exactly right on Slackware. I only use it to install rpm's
As often as not the rpm's don't work anyway...
For regular Slackware packages use pkgtool, installpkg or upgradepkg.

Updated to KDE3.2. Don't know if this included a new release of kpackage.

On tab I1 enabled the use box and entered

file:/var/log/packages/PACKAGES.TXT

in the text box after having copied a PACKAGES.TXT file to the directory. /var/log/packages - didn't know what it was likely to achieve but seemed a good idea at the time

On tab P2 in the top text box entered

ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.sla...-9.1/slackware

also enabled the use box and entered

tp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-9.1/patches/PACKAGES.TXT

in the text box.

kpackage now tells me what pacakages are in the mirrors patches folder that I haven't got installed in my machine.

It's a start.

The top text box in P2 above should read

ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.sla.../slackware-9.1

also the Packages box on P2 should read

ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.sla...s/PACKAGES.TXT
