Must be an old driver, since it's looking for an XFree86 binary. Looking at ATI's site, I don't see any currently hosted X1200 driver. Have you tried using the generic ATI driver that comes with X11?

i want my slackware can compiz like other
thx
compiz will work on that video card with the open source drivers that Slackware 13.0 comes with.
errozz you cannot install Catalyst 9.3 on Slackware 13.0. The kernel is too new to support those drivers and your graphics card is too old to support any Catalysts after 9.3. Use the xf86 driver like the above posters mentioned.
my friend , tell me patch catalys 9.3 but i dont know where i can get it , and how to use it
thx
Let me make this 100% clear. Catalyst will *not* work for your video card on Slackware 13.0 without making major, possibly damaging, changes to the operating system. Again, the open source drivers that came with Slackware 13.0 will run compiz just fine.
but if open source driver can do compiz
why when "compiz --replace" my screen blank
how about my glxgears
421 frames in 5.003 seconds = 84.150 FPS
205 frames in 5.015 seconds = 40.877 FPS
206 frames in 5.022 seconds = 41.020 FPS
thx 4 ur respect
Your glxgears framerate is quite low, but that doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem. Please show us the output of 'glxinfo' and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file to a post here.
As for compiz... 'compiz --replace' will only work on Debian, Ubuntu, and other distributions derived from those two. On every other distribution, that simply starts compiz without any plugins. If you want to use compiz, you should check the other threads on this forum about installing the full, up-to-date version of compiz-fusion, such as: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...fusion-752803/
First, make sure you are using the proper driver. Backup your xorg.conf first for safety. As root:
Code:
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bak
It would be helpful if you could post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
Then reboot your computer, and without X running, run as root:
Code:
xorgsetup
Then when xorgsetup is finished, run startx as a normal user, or reboot your computer.
This should hopefully setup your system to use the correct driver for your video card.
That looks 100% correct. It would appear that you have 3D acceleration enabled. Have you tried enabling KDEs desktop effects (assuming you have KDE installed)?
