But when I try to configure with Yast it tells me...
An error occurred during the installation of
Radeon X1200 Series Audio Controller
The kernel module snd-hda-intel for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameters including IO or IRQ parametrs.
I also ran into problems following the Asus supplied method of installing the driver when it told me I had to use the same version of GCC as that used to compile my kernel 2.6.22.18-0.2. Not the one available on my installation (I upgraded).
Downloaded the source for alsa-driver-1.0.17, alsa-lib-1.0.17, and alsa-utils-1.0.17 from the ALSA home page. Compiled alsa-driver-1.0.17 as root with...
./configure --with-cards=hda-intel
make
make install
and the alsa-lib-1.0.17 and alsa-utils-1.0.17 as root with the usual
./configure
make
make install
...in that order. Rebooted, ran alsaconf as root then alsamixer as user.
