ATI 3.14.6 Driver Kernel 2.6.7 problem

Looks for insight.
I just upgraded to Kernel 2.6.7. I tried to install the latest ATI driver version 3.14.6

glxgears returned good numbers:
root@monkey:~# glxgears
13013 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2602.600 FPS
14529 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2905.800 FPS
14529 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2905.800 FPS
14530 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2906.000 FPS
14529 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2905.800 FPS
14529 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2905.800 FPS
14528 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2905.600 FPS
14527 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2905.400 FPS
14530 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2906.000 FPS

fgl_glxgears returned this:

root@monkey:~# fgl_glxgears
FGLTexMgr: open of shared memory object failed (Function not implemented)
__FGLTexMgrCreateObject: __FGLTexMgrSHMmalloc failed!!!
fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrCreateObject failed!!

any suggestions?

Are you sure your are running the ati-binary drivers...

Did you compile the kernel with DRM support compiled in.. cuz if you did
it may be running xorg/xfree drivers instead of the ati-binary drivers.. and the flgx_glxgears would definately crash in that case..

Cheers,

Gary

I ended up reverting back to the ATI 3.14.1 drivers. I have not been able to find good information on installing the new drivers on kernel 2.6.7.

I installed them as laid out in this quide.
