Did you try the settings in
nvmixer
?

I did notice that on my machine, everytime i restart it, i have to enter nvmixer again and set sound to 5.1. For some reason it won't save my settings.

Before trying anything I always set nvmixer to 5.1 speakers, so that 's not the problem...

I tried xine, with the following settings:
Speaker arrangement :Surround 5.1
audio driver to use: oss
OSS audio mixer number :-1
OSS audio device number: -1

It still plays only two front channels, when trying AC3 files.

dmesg shows:
Code:
...
Nvsound: NVIDIA nForce2 Controller found at Mem 0xdc000000 and IRQ c
...

Nvsound: NVIDIA nForce2 Audio found at IO 0xb400 and 0xb000, IRQ 5
Nvsound: Aci_device dff39c00 Apu_device dff38000
Nvsound: DEV MIXER 0 DEV AUDIO 3
...
Nvsound: Unable to change the Channel, set back to Stereo
Thanks for your reply!

Out of curiosity, in your kernel Sound config settings, do you have any of
C-Media PCI
OSS
enabled? and is the
Number of speakers 2, 4, 5, 6
greyed or not?

Regarding the number of speakers, are you talking about nvmixer or kernel settings?
I didn't find something like that in the kernel. However, i don't have any problem
selecting 5.1 in nvmixer...
