apt-get for slackware (the real apt...not swaret or slapt)

i did some searching around, and found a slackware port of apt-get.

project-csi.sourceforge.net

all it has is the tgz files. including, apt, and dpkg. i was wondering if anyone used this? cuz it'd be great to be able to use apt, and install real deb files (without converting) from the hundreds of debian mirrors. software galore!!!

i'm just concerned about what apt-get dist-upgrade might do on a slack system....

I tested and it's real crap (I'm sorry). As the dependency system works based on a database of installed .deb packages, if you try to install anything like xmms you'll get a message saying that you need to install just everything from the base system 'till your KDE. You would need to start the whole system from scratch with .deb files.... not gonna work at all!!! if you wanna do that get debian yourself

yeah i didn't have much luck with it either...=(

kept giving me errors about mmap no room or something like that. searched through some forums, and told me to add some line to my apt.conf. did that, still didn't work. from that point i was like screw it...this wasn't meant to be. uninstalled it.

guess it's back to slapt-get and swaret for me :-P
