After idle in X windows mouse pointer disappears

I have a small but annoying problem. When I leave my computer on an walk away for a few minutes while I am in X windows (with the icewm windows manager) my laptop screen turns off. This is fine, but when I move the mouse, or hit a key to turn the screen on again, X windows reappears without a mouse pointer. The way I usually solve this is by logging out of X windows and then logging back in again.

Just a hassle to have to reopen everything if I am in the middle of something.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks

i had a buggy mouse pointer on my laptop, so i changed in my xorg to use software cursor and not hardware cursor. check your xorg log in /var and see what cursor type you are using.

that worked for me, but your mileage and experience could vary.
