I can confirm that after an update on current a few days ago flash decreased performance dramatically. Where can I get the previous version of pixman to try?
Just a headsup on this - after looking at the many reports on this and doing some investigating, it was indeed a pixman problem. The new pixman enables sse2 optimizations (which aren't good for older boxes ), and in patching it out, the MMX stuff was removed too. People with uber-fast graphics cards and/or entire systems probably don't notice the difference, but some of us do
Anyway, a pixman rebuild will be in the next push to public.

Never saw this thread before. I've been seeing degradation in using Konqueror with transparency and bitmapped fonts. The screen repaints very slowly. Old box, but new to me, with integrated intel graphics. I'll be interested to see if the change in pixman fixes things for me in this regard. I had narrowed it down to this same pixman update, but I did not have the box long enough to know whether I was imagining it or not. Seeing the same thing happen on my laptop (ATI X1400) made me more certain something was not quite right somewhere.

Oh, come on. I'm @ 2GHz with lots of RAM and a decent ATI graphics card - and the difference is between a 1 image/second slideshow @ 100% CPU and a decent video experience @ 40% CPU.
Thanks for fixing this, I had noticed a slowdown in Flash, but I had assumed it was a problem with the latest Flash, as I upgraded that at the same time as pixman. It wasn't a slideshow, but it was choppy and using 80-100% of CPU.
Can someone post a link to some flash video so I can test this here?
I just don't see a problem with Firefox-2.0.0.14 in -current, and
pixman-0.10.0-i486-1 or pixman-0.10.0-i486-3 from -current on two
boxen atm. Perhaps it's just my disdain for Flash that I don't know
anyplace to check it. I have the Little Billy Posting shockwave flash
video (swf) from Albino Blacksheep, and it plays fine.

Thanks for any links ...
The problem occured with all flash videos. But it is now solved with the new building of pixman (pixman-0.10.0-i486-4) now found in current. rworkman explained in this thread why: please read his contribution. So the problem is solved.
