Booting Slackware from Grub

Hi Slackware enthusiasts,

I installed Slackware 12.2 to my third partition but told it not to install LILO as I prefer to use Grub for everything and there was no Grub option. I therefore now want to hook up Grub manually, but on checking the contents of Slackware's /boot directory, I find there are a LARGE number of kernels/images/whatnot in there and I don't know which to tell Grub to point to.
Can some kind soul therefore post the Slackware section of their Grub menu.lst file?
Many thanks,
CC.

If you look carefully in /boot
you'll see a symbolic link vmlinuz
that's the current kernel used
so in grub you should point to /boot/vmlinuz

so if slackware is on your 3rd partition
(I'll assume you have a sata or scsi disk, otherwise
replace sda by hda)
you entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst could be something like

title slackware (whatever you want for the title)
root (hd0,2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda3 ro vga=791

(vga=791 is optional)

mine is:

Code:
  title Linux on (/dev/sda1)
  root (hd0,0)
  kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro vga=normal
for the (hd0,0) it must be hd never sd, grub uses hd for everything. The first number is the HDD starting at 0 as the first, and the second number is the partition starting at 0 as the first. So if you did (hd1,5) you would be booting HDD 2 (sdb/hdb) partition 6 (sdb6/hdb6).

Okay, thanks guys. It's working fine now. My own guess was pretty close, but no cigar! It's got to dead right after all.
