installing vsftpd http error 404?

I am running Centos6 and have been trying to enable ftp on the server. when I try yum install vsftpd I will get this.

Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, security
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
http://ftp.novell.com/pub/mono/downl...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: Mono. Please verify its path and try again

Am i doing something wrong?

You really should know what a 404 is. Novell just don't have that repo file there anymore. Just put that link in a browser and you'll see it's just not there at all.

This is clearly nothing at all to do with vsftpd at all though, just delete that repo file from /etc/yum.repos.d/

I understand what a 404 is but after installing mono now nearly no yum command works. I come up with that error. How do I fix this issue. I am fairly new to linux as well

As above, you remove the mono repo, as it's no longer there online to use.
