Cron for root stopped working after OS update
Hi,
Yesterday I used up2date to update the OS on my EL4 machine to 4.9. Since then, none of root's cron entries run. As a test I set up a simple job for my own user and it runs.
(output from /var/log/cron):
Mar 28 10:27:01 zion crond[12908]: (grichardson) CMD (/bin/ping -c 10 192.168.0.27)
Mar 28 10:28:01 zion crond[13274]: (grichardson) CMD (/bin/ping -c 10 192.168.0.27)
Mar 28 10:29:01 zion crond[13526]: (grichardson) CMD (/bin/ping -c 10 192.168.0.27)
I wiped out root's cron using "crontab -r" and created a brand new cron file w/ crontab -e and put this simple cron in, which was the same as my user's cron:
* * * * * /bin/ping -c 10 192.168.0.27
Even with just that one entry, which works for user grichardson, it isn't working for root. At least I know it's not something I had in root's previous cron file. But it doesn't get me any closer to figuring out why root's cron isn't running.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
-Gary
