cron job suddenly stopped working
Hi all
I have been running several nightly cron jobs for a long time and one for database updating. And like with all cron jobs, I've always received an e-mail when it was finished, giving me the whole output. A few days ago however, I stopped getting the e-mail for this particular job. And it turned out that even though there was an entry in /var/log/cron for this job, it wasn't being run! It is a part of the /etc/cron.daily scripts and is scheduled to run at 00:02 every day. The crontab line in question looks like this:
02 0 * * * root run-parts /etc/cron.daily
and in cron.daily, the file in question contains these lines:
su - oracle -c 'sqlplus xxx/xxx@orcl @/scripts/refresh.sql'
su - oracle -c 'sqlplus xxx/xxx@orcl @/scripts/refresh_indices.sql'
When I run this manually, everything works fine. But now when cron runs it, nothing seems to be happening except that it writes this line in the /var/log/cron log:
Aug 25 00:02:00 web CROND[25826]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.daily
The last file in alphabetical order in /etc/cron.daily is tripwire-check. That one seems to work just fine, sending me an e-mail with the results.
I'm using Read Hat 7.2 and the cron packages installed are:
crontabs-1.10-1
anacron-2.3-17
vixie-cron-3.0.1-63
This has always worked just fine until a few days ago. Hope someone out there knows what's going on!
Best regards,
Gísli
