PCMCIA Slot Number

Hi,

I'm new here, and relatively new to the Linux world, but this site seemed like a perfect place for my question!

I have written a driver for a PCMCIA card that is produced by my company, and this is currently running wonderfully on Red Hat 7/7.2. What I want to do is write a piece of utility software to accompany it.

The software would have to know which instance of the card is in each of the PCMCIA slots, so that they can be programmed independently. There does not appear to be any function that will return the slot number! I am wrong here?

Currently the only way I have been able to see a solution is to use the Devices Minor Number, but this is not very useful, as the order in which cards are plugged in will change the minor numbers that they are assigned, and the user will never be quite sure which card they are programming!

I am hoping that this is a stupid question, with a simple answer, but I suspect that it is not, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Mark
