PCMCIA slot wont read NIC

Hey everyone. I'm new to linux (a couple days, installed Redhat 8) and trying to get my wireless NIC to work so I can use my crappy laptop for my classes. Basically, it didn't auto-detect my NIC (3com 3crwe62092a), and in the hardware browser it says that there is not a card inserted. I don't know what the next logical step is, (maybe pcmcia drivers? or just the nic drivers?) but would appreciate it if you guys could help me out.

Check to make sure that PCMCIA support is compiled into the kernel or it is available as a module. (modprobe pcmcia.o, or something like that) You make have to custom compile a kernel.
