kernel module symbol error

what is the replacement to following statements that i found in kernel modeule on internet? the kernel module is written for 2.4 kernel.

extern void *sys_call_table[];

/* replace the dummy pt send with a real one */
original_call = sys_call_table[__NR_pt_send];
sys_call_table[__NR_pt_send] = sys_pt_send;

I want to execute kernel module on Fedora core 1 with its default kernel installed.
Also why new kernels not export ntohs symbol???
